Eine Familie verbringt einen Tag im Schwimmbad: Sophie mit ihren zwei Kindern, Kinan und Ines, und deren Großmutter. Der Geruch von Pommes und Chlor mischt sich mit hallendem Gelächter. Ein schrilles Pfeifen schlägt Sophie in der großen Schwimmhalle entgegen. Als sie glaubt ihre Mutter atemlos an der Oberfläche treiben zu sehen, überspült sie eine Angst, die sich in Ihr als Realität manifestiert. Nachdem sie die Verwechslung realisiert, schirmt sie ihre Familie von dem Vorfall ab und versucht, den Tag über eine Normalität aufrecht zu erhalten. Ein Schockerlebnis, welches sie verdrängt aber nicht mehr ruhen lässt. Als sie drei Tage später zum Fundbüro des Schwimmbads zurückkehrt, kommt eine ferne Kindheitserinnerung hoch.
